此外,还有一部在美国引起关注的文革回忆录,是不少国内读者熟知,一九九八年出版的《血色黄昏》的英译本“Blood Red Sunset”。这部着作的英文版由科罗拉多大学中国文学教授Howard Goldblatt(中文名葛浩文,翻译过王朔的《千万别把我当人》等书)翻译并于一九九六年出版。把《血色黄昏》译介到西方的好处是显而易见的,由于这是中国人用中文写作的自传,从一开始就避免了用英文为西方读者写作时出于政治和市场考虑可能带来的干扰。在亚马逊网站上,一位美国读者这样评价《血色黄昏》:“……关于打人,虐待,谄媚和贪婪的故事充斥着每一页。对这一段时期实在没有什么好话可说。它令人浑身发冷。大约十年以前,我在中国现代史的本科课程上读过这本书。至今我还保留着它。”
