Louise Glück

Jacob

Ode to the West Wind", 还有Robert Frost的"Birches", "Directive", 等等。

"I've read Louise Glück, but my mind refuses to stalk any of her poems, much to their dismay. She reminds me of John Ashbery, another American poet whose poems are written more for literary critics than for common readers.

"Glück's poetry hardly endangers my physical life, nor does it make me prosper by sending a rush of thoughts to the account of my intellect. 'If I read a book [and] it makes my whole body so cold no fire ever can warm me I know that is poetry,' remarked Emily Dickinson. 'If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry. These are the only way I know it. Is there any other way.'

"Capable and occasionally striking, Glück is not a poet as cold and passionate as the dawn."
